of intellectual property, describes how the Internet has evolved from a technical infrastructure into a virtual market for Intellectual property, and provides concrete illusions of this development.

The workshop addresses the impact of the Internet on the various branches of intellectual property, namely, copyright and related rights, trademarks and other rights in distinctive signs (including domain names), and patens as well as the responses that have developed worldwide to date.

In addition, the workshop discusses intellectual property dispute resolution on the Internet, and the

role of private international law and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in that connection, and examines certain Internet issues as they relate to developing countries, including the challenges raised by disparities in infrastructure development.

Strategic Use of Internet for Media Organizations

The workshop discusses the opportunities and challenges associated with using the Internet for electronic publishing and reviews the world Internet presence as well as the Arab Internet presence.

Al-Bayan Media Training Center

The workshop introduces smarter surfing techniques and Internet resources for journalists written by journalists. This includes sources of facts and data, business material, and commercial databases. Surfing without sinking, advance use of search engines and going beyond Google are also introduced.

The workshop also discusses:

• Web credibilty and evaluating Internet information resources;
• Blogging as a form of new journalism;
• Learning from Web site’s statistics, anaylyzing Web site traffic, and how to translate statistics into actions;
• Web-related Internet Law and legal issues
